It provides a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care and pioneering clinical practice in the NHS. Patients at Newcastle Hospitals, both children and adults, were amongst the first in the world to receive CAR-T cell therapy which marks a new era of personalised medicine for treating lymphoma and leukaemia.
On average, every year, Newcastle Hospitals cares for more than 1.8million patients across its main hospital and community services including the Freeman Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), Campus for Ageing and Vitality, Newcastle Dental Hospital, Newcastle Fertility Centre and the Northern Genetics Centre.
The RVI’s Great North Trauma and Emergency Centre is also one of two trauma centres serving the Northern Trauma network which extends from the Scottish Borders to Yorkshire.
