Our FT members are all key partners in their local ‘Places’ and in the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS). As a collective, NENC Providers is also formally represented as a partner member on the ICB Board.
During 2024/25, we have continued to organise our work around three core programmes:
We operate a light-touch programme management structure which is funded by our member FTs and with support from the ICB.
This enables us to remain agile and responsive, while ensuring strong coordination and alignment across the system.
We aim to drive innovation, improvement and transformation in the provider sector by creating simple, effective ways to connect people, share learning and work together on shared priorities.
Each year, we agree a formal Responsibility Agreement with the ICB. This outlines the specific priorities and deliverables for the year ahead, ensuring our work supports the delivery of high-quality, equitable care across the region.
During 2024/25, we saw some key personnel changes to our system at a senior leadership level:
- Brent Kilmurray, CEO at Tees, Esk at Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust took up a new role as Chief Executive at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust with effect from April 2025.*
- Helen Ray, CEO at North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust retired in June 2025.**
