Two key strands of work...

Our work focuses on two key areas that help improve care for patients every day: planned care (elective care) and unplanned care (urgent and emergency care). By working together across the North East and North Cumbria, we can improve services now while building stronger care for the future.

At the start of 2025, we brought colleagues together at our Elective and UEC Spring Conference to help shape our plans for the year ahead. More than 100 people attended to share progress, discuss challenges and learn from each other. The event included keynote speeches from Sir James Mackey, Chief Executive of NHS England, and Professor Tim Briggs, who spoke about the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme.

Events like this support our culture of collaboration. They give colleagues a chance to share ideas, learn from good practice and help shape the changes that will improve care for patients across our region.
